According to statistics from the Mongolian Bureau of Statistics, in the first half of 2017, Mongolia's total export volume was 3.1 billion US dollars, of which the export volume of mineral products was 2.542 billion US dollars, accounting for 82% of the total export volume, while the export volume of coal was 1.28 billion US dollars, accounting for 41.29% of the total export volume.
As the largest land port for coal and copper trade between China and Mongolia, the trade volume of coal and copper at the Ganqi-Maodu port reached 1.305 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of 2017, accounting for 51.34% of Mongolia's total export volume. Among them, coal trade with Mongolia was worth $867 million, accounting for 67.73 percent of Mongolia's total export.
The Tavan Tolgoi mine in Mongolia's South Gobi province has seen a sharp increase in profits from the port's coal trade, the Mongolian Daily News reported. TT Mines made a total profit of Tu 255 billion (about US $108 million) from coal exports in the first half of 2017, including Tu 76 billion in the first quarter and Tu 179 billion in the second quarter.
